Meet the artists, hear them speak about their work while sipping a glass of Bodega del Sur wine and sampling a variety of Latin American cuisine. This group exhibition represents a group of artists from Cuba, El Salvador, and Mexico.  Their body of work shows the strength of the human spirit and human connections in overcoming political oppression, abuse and violence, and life-threatening illness.  Each has a story to tell.  In their own voice, their visual representations inform us of their personal journey.

Honor Women, Taste Wine & Support an Imortant Cause!

Bodega del Sur Winery is hosting two special events to celebrate the release of their ’08 Carmesi and kick-off their fundraising season for The Resouce Connection’s Emergency Shelter serving Calaveras County.

Forgot to make hotel reservations? Take a trip to Murphys, CA, a hidden gem, you will feel like you stepped back in time.  Its only about a 2 and a half hour drive, through beautiful county side. Enjoy the quaint town of Murphys and then on Saturday, Feb. 12th, join Bodega del Sur for a private tasting and wine release event!

ABOUT CARMESI
A Wine That Honors Women

With Bodega del Sur’s latest vintage of CARMESI,
a new figure adorns the label. Her name is Amparo.

With the huge success of Bodega del Sur’s first bottling of CARMESI, Evelyn and her husband, Victor, searched long and hard for an image of a Latin woman that would convey both strength and beauty. The search ended in a family album of a friend and neighbor. There she was – Amparo Ramos.

She was 15-years-old when the photo was taken in 1894 in Sonora, Mexico. Her inner confidence and strength were already apparent. She went on to marry and have children but after that her trail is lost.

Honoring Women
It wasn’t long after the figure of Amparo was chosen that it became apparent how appropriate the choice really was.

The Spanish name “Amparo” translates to “protection or shelter”.

While showing strong women on a wine label fulfilled part of Evelyn’s dream, it did not satisfy her desire
to help women — and children — in need.

Prior to opening Bodega del Sur, Evelyn worked as a schoolteacher where she witnessed women and children in trouble. She did what she could then, but it was limited.

Now she has a chance to provide direct assistance. Portions of the sale of each bottle of CARMESI are donated to charitable organizatons that assist women and children in need.

ARTdeezine is turning 5!


5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

ARTdeezine is turning 5 on February 4th! Please stop by our studio for an anniversary celebration and open house between 4-8pm on Friday February 4th. Casually enjoy a glass of wine and some light snacks while chatting with us.
