DeeDee Hunt has been a professional graphic designer since 2006 after freelancing for several years following graduation from San Francisco State University with a degree in Industrial Design and an emphasis in Graphic Design. She is a multi-passionate entrepreneur, starting multiple businesses throughout the years including a pop-up selling enchiladas and tacos at Jay ‘N’ B Club in the Mission District of San Francisco back in 2003 as a way to drum up business for her roommate’s slow Monday night bartending shift before pop-ups were even a thing.

Her out of the box thinking has played a significant creative role for dozens of food, wellness and lifestyle brands with projects that include strategy, art direction and design for commercials, magazines, restaurant and storefront concept and development including menu development, storefront interior/exterior design, signage, packaging, and even graphic design for TV, along with innovative marketing strategies including print and digital campaigns.

Cooking Up Ideas

Even when she’s not “working” she is cooking up ideas. Whether she is developing a new recipe with her two teenage girls, Sonoma Rose and Lyla Sky, trying to grow things on their tiny SF back porch, pickling something she found at the farmers market, painting mystical scenes in bold colors, building something to improve her living space, or just wandering around San Francisco taking pictures, she gets great satisfaction out of turning an idea into a tangible or edible piece of art, a gift, or something functional.

An avid learner, she’s obsessed with shows like The Profit, and podcasts like How I Built This. Her secret weapon is her passion and ability to strategize and connect. She loves people and is absolutely energized by brainstorming and out of the box thinking. Her enthusiasm is contagious.

Community Involvment

HUNT & GATHER (H&G) is an ART GALLERY DESIGN STUDIO used by local creative entrepreneurs for conducting business and creating branding and marketing content as well as hosting intimate gatherings, seasonal workshops, pop-ups, and art shows to promote business, conduct team meetings, and training and connect to the local community. Located in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset neighborhood since March of 2018 DeeDee quickly went from hosting an annual art show to hosting four art shows a year which kick off each new season at H&G. H&G is a dream come true for DeeDee. Ever since she was a little girl, she dreamt of creating a gathering space for creative types like herself to create, collaborate, inspire, and socialize. She called this vision the CoZone, A Comfort Zone for the Energetic Spirit and Curious Soul. But by the time the “CoZone” was manifested the name no longer seemed current. So she incorporated her last name in honor of her grandma Ella (Hunt) on her dad’s side of the family. HUNT & GATHER is DeeDee’s way of giving back to her local community.

Rooted in passion and inspiration

Her grandma was very special to her… she taught young DeeDee about gardening, cooking, how to pickle veggies and make jam from fresh ingredients from the garden… and could also deal a mean game of poker while throwing back a beer. She passed away suddenly when DeeDee was only seven. H&G gives DeeDee an outlet for all her creativity that was planted many years ago when she would spend weekends with her kindred spirit, grandma Ella. The space is dedicated to her loving memory and was coincidentally established on her birthday, March 18, 2018 when the stars aligned solidifying for DeeDee that she was on the right path.

DeeDee is so grateful for the opportunity to help creative entrepreneurs grow meaningful businesses and build community. Her goal is to inspire other artists and makers the way her grandma, and so many other creative women in her life have inspired her to create and in turn, inspire others… like an infinite, magical ripple effect.
